Budew! A pair of them were looking up at him curiously. Then he heard a series of squeaks near his feet. Then he reached for his sketchbook and got drawing, determined to capture the beautiful patterns and graceful movements as well as he could with a pencil and paper. They fluttered around each other in friendly greetings and he watched them, captivated. Tracey spotted a group of vivillon in colors and patterns he hadn’t yet seen-some blue-green with streaks of bright yellow, some elegant purple with a couple spots of red and orange, some with wings like a sunset over the sea-and headed for them. There was something so wonderful about being in a new place, seeing so many pokémon he’d never gotten to see in person before-and best of all, Gary was with him, warm and confident and grinning at his side. Tracey felt nearly giddy with excitement. That sketchbook would probably be full by the end of this trip, if not the end of the day, Gary thought amusedly. He watched Tracey work, warmed by his enthusiasm. Tracey’s grateful glance and mouthed thank you were enough for him. He released it with a look of understanding, knowing what Tracey wanted to do. A group of flabébé floated past, and Gary felt Tracey’s hand twitch. Once he’d finished, he took a moment longer to watch the two bug-types with earnest admiration, taking Gary’s hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. Gary felt a warm rush of pride and affection for his boyfriend-Tracey was so passionate and so good at what he did. Gary sidestepped closer to watch over his shoulder as he drew, his keen eyes and skilled hand capturing the markings of the wings beautifully. That didn’t bother Tracey, who swiftly whipped out his sketchbook and got to work. “Yeah,” Gary agreed, eyes only on Tracey.Ī pair of vivillon fluttered close-meadow pattern, the most common in Kalos. Gary watched Tracey fondly as he looked around the flowery meadow, teeming with pokémon, with wide-eyed awe. After a day of recovering from jet lag and taking advantage of the abundance of good food in Lumiose City, they had headed out to explore the more natural parts of Kalos.Īfter a couple days’ travel, they’d found the perfect place. Venturing to Kalos to search for vivillon-Gary’s gift to Tracey, who’d been very excited at the prospect of seeking out and sketching the different patterns-was going smoothly so far.
